MSU men No. 1, women No. 6 in latest ACHA polls
A pair of wins over the weekend pushed the Beavers’ win streak to seven games to start the new calendar year and kept the Minot State University (MSU) men’s hockey team atop the ACHA national polls as for the second consecutive week, the Beavers were ranked No. 1 in the ACHA Division I men’s hockey national poll.
The Beavers (25-4-1 overall, 18-1-0 MCH) hit the ice for three games this weekend as they host No. 5 Jamestown at the All Seasons Arena on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., then MSU battles No. 12 Mary in a home-and-home series on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Mandan, then Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Maysa Arena.
While the MSU men held onto the No. 1 spot in their poll, the Minot State women’s hockey team checked in at No. 6 in the ACHA Division I women’s poll this week.
The Beavers (16-8-1, 13-7-0 WMCH) slipped two spots after a pair of road losses at Midland, which climbed to No. 4 with the two victories.
The MSU women are back in action at home this weekend as they host Niagara (N.Y.) on Saturday at the Maysa Arena’s Eck rink at 4 p.m., and on Sunday at the Maysa Arena’s Pepsi rink at 2 p.m.
The top three in both polls remained the same this week as Liberty topped the women’s poll followed by No. 2 Adrian (Mich.) and No. 3 Maryville (Mo.), while Midland (Neb.) moved up to No. 4 and McKendree (Ill.) moved up to No. 5.
In the men’s poll, Minot State remained No. 1 followed by UNLV at No. 2, Liberty (Va.) at No. 3, Ohio at No. 4, then Jamestown at No. 5.
