MSU women to host Cloud State, Bemidji State

The Minot State University (MSU) women’s basketball team will start the weekend by hosting St. Cloud State University on Friday, December 5, at 5:30, then face Bemidji State University on Saturday, December 6, at 3:30.

The Beavers last match up against the Huskies of St. Cloud State was in the 1st round of the 2023-2024 season’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) playoffs where the Beavers fell short of the Huskies in the 78-61-point game. The Beavers had three players score double figures.

Leading the Beavers was Maya Aguilar, with 18 points. Jaime Skeggs made 13 points and three steals. Lorelei McIver secured 12 points, eight rebounds, two steals and three blocks. The Beavers forced 16 St. Cloud State turnovers, which turned into 15 points for the Beavers.

The women’s basketball team last faced Bemidji State University in February of last season where Minot fell 77-63 to Bemidji. MSU forced 21 Bemidji State turnovers, which the Beavers turned into 19 points. Jaime Skeggs led the Beavers with 14 points. Lorelei McIver added four points and five steals for the Beavers.

MSU will be St. Cloud’s first competition of conference play. The Huskies currently stand 3-2 in non-conference play.

MSU will be Bemidji State’s second game of the conference competition. Bemidji will begin their season by taking on the University of Minnesota Crookston on Friday, then the Minnesota Beavers will hit the road to take on MSU the following day. Bemidji State is standing 2-2 in non-conference play.
