Minot High wrestling takes down Williston

Minot High boys wrestling hosted Williston last night for their first dual of the season and came out on top with a 36-33 win in Western Dakota Association (WDA) action.

Minot High started on top 6-0 with a win from Jack Combs (107-lbs) over Jamison Didier of Williston. Williston won by forfeit making the score 6-6. Tayven Blackaby (121) responded with a win over Bryce Bortz and Korbin Kraft (127) also came out with a win advancing the Magicians to an 18-6 lead.

Sulley Krenz of Williston beat Kaden Philion (133) making the score 18-12 for the Magicians. Minot High went on to lose the next two giving Williston the lead 22-18.

Minot High responded with three straight wins from Kaden Kraft (152), Gavin Tanberg (160), and Noah Bledsoe (172) putting the Magicians in the lead 33-22.

Williston won the next two to be tied with Minot High at 33-33 leaving it to Minot High’s Lincoln Brooks (285) and Williston’s Dom Concha to decide the team win. Brooks came out on top over Concha leading the Magicians to their first dual win over the Coyotes 36-33.

Minot High will face Bismarck High on Thursday, December 12 for their next matchup in WDA duals.
