MSU women drop one, take one

on Saturday, November 2, at the Maysa to split the two-game series. The Beavers came into this game after falling to Lindenwood on Friday, November 1, by a score of 5-3. With today’s win, #9 Minot State improves their record to 7-3-0, while #12 Lindenwood falls to 6-7-0.

The first period was a quiet one for both teams as the two goalies kept the game scoreless through the first 20 minutes. Morgan Baker had 1 save on goal for the Beavers, while Evi Allerding had 12 saves on 12 shots on goal for Lindenwood.

The second period was all Minot State as the Beavers took advantage of the two power plays in the period. Abby Pineau got the scoring started for the Beavers with a power play goal scored at 8:44 into the period to put Minot State on top 1-0. Not long after, it was Krissy Rink who scored a power play goal at 9:41 into the period to put Minot State ahead 2-0. Morgan Baker held Lindenwood scoreless in the second period tallying 5 saves on 5 shots on goal.

Makenna Beard got the third period started with a goal scored at 2:49 into the period to further Minot State’s lead to 3-0. Lindenwood would not be shutout, however, scoring their only goal on a power play by Ardyn Hawryshko at 11:32 into the period. After their power play goal, Lindenwood was held scoreless to give the Beavers the win by a final score of 3-1.

Paige Ackerman, Paige Kozak, Payton Lang and Makenna Beard were all credited with assists in the game. Morgan Baker had 9 saves on 10 shots on goal to secure the victory for the Beavers.

The Beavers will be back in action on the road in the WMCH Showcase in Missouri and Illinois. The Beavers will be competing in three games in three straight days. On Thursday, November 7, the Beavers take on Lindenwood University at 1:30 pm in St. Charles, Missouri.

On Friday, November 8, the Beavers take on the University of Minnesota at 9:30 pm in St. Charles, Missouri. On Saturday, November 9, the Beavers take on McKendree University at 5:00 pm in O’Fallon, Illinois. On Sunday, November 10, at 12:00 pm, the WMCH Showcase will end with a WMCH All Star Game in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Lindenwood University 5, MSU Women 3

On Friday, November 1, Minot State took on #12 Lindenwood University in game one of a two-game set. The Beavers battled against Lindenwood University, but eventually fell short by a score of 5-3. The Beavers are now 6-3-0 on the season, while Lindenwood improved their record to 6-6-0.

The Beavers were held scoreless in the first period, while Ardyn Hawryshko got Lindenwood on the board with a goal scored at 19:35 into the first to make the score 1-0 in favor of Lindenwood.

Lindenwood furthered their lead to 2-0 at 2:00 into the second period on a goal scored by Loki Antonio. The Beavers cut down Lindenwood’s lead with a power play goal scored by Paige Kozak at 9:30 into the period to make the score 2-1. Loki Antonio scored her second goal of the game at 11:29 into the period to extend Lindenwood’s lead to 3-1. Madison Teague scored a power play goal a few minutes later to put Lindenwood on top by a score of 4-1.

Journey Miller got the Beavers on the board early in the third period with a power play goal scored at 2:07 into the period to make the score 4-2. The Beavers got within one on a power play goal scored by Abby Pineau at 5:26 into the period to make the score 4-3 in favor of Lindenwood. Loki Antonio scored her third goal of the game on the power play, to give her a hat trick on the game, at 17:31 into the period to give Lindenwood a 5-3 lead.
