Minot High beats Mandan in final prep for championships
The Mandan girls swim and dive team made the trip to Minot as both the Braves and the Majettes used the dual as final competitive tweaking for the upcoming Western Dakota Association (WDA) Championships on Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9, at the Williston Area Recreation Center.
Minot High seems ready with the 130 to 55 win over Mandan.
Senior Haley Conklin broke her old pool record in the 1-meter diving with a new pool record of 337.70 for first place for Minot High. Gracyn Bergan was second with 258.00 for the one, two punch.
In the 200-yard medley relay the Minot High team of Emily Dunstan, Haili Metzger, Sophia VanBokern and Hailee Valdez was first with a 2:02.07 time. In the 400 freestyle relay, the Majettes team of Sam VanBokern, Bostyn Edwards, Madisyn Racine and Kirby Quam won with a 3:57.58 time.
The Majettes team of Dunstan, Edwards, Sophia VonBokern and Sam VonBokern won the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:43.94 mark as Minot High swept the relays.
Sam VonBokern won the 200 individual medley with a 2:16.03 while Racine was second and Metzger was third. In the 50 freestyle, Edwards was first at 26.77 while Sophia VonBokern was second with a 27.11 mark.
Edwards also won the 100 butterfly for Minot High with a 1:05.77 time. Dunstan was first in the 100 freestyle with a 56.07 while Kirby was second and Sophia VonBokern was third.
Caelin Flaten posted the win for Minot High in the 500 freestyle with a 5:48.34 and Ava Neumann was second. Havana Metzger was third in the same event for the Majettes.
Sam VonBokern won the 100 backstroke with a 1:05.38 mark. Haili Metzger was first in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:13.54 and Greer Schaeffer was second with a 1:18.36 time.
