Surrey sweeps Nedrose in three

Nedrose hosted Surrey last night for some Monday night volleyball action on October 21. Both teams started off hot rallying off each other in the first set. Surrey pulled through in the latter half of the set winning 26-24.
The Mustangs rallied off of that win winning the second set by a score of 25-17 against the Cardinals. All Surrey needed was three, winning the third set 25-20 and ultimately beating Nedrose 3-0.
For the winning Mustangs junior Mekenzie Neighbors led with 11 digs, six kills, and four aces. Senior MaKya Gerding had five kills, four aces, and four blocks. Senior Alexa Ryals led the team with seven assists.
For the Cardinals senior Lilly Nelson led the team with 20 digs, 12 kills, and a pair of blocks. Freshman Brynley Bertsch led the team with 15 assists and three aces. Senior Kenna Huff finished with 11 digs and four kills and senior MaHalle Lizotte had 14 digs and three aces.
Nedrose will face Garrison today at 7 P.M. at Garrison High School.
Nedrose sits at sixth in region 6, district 11 and will hold that slot as the postseason play begins. Surrey is at seventh in the region 6, district 12 standings and will hold that slot as well.
Surrey will face Rugby today, October 22, at 7 P.M. at home. While the match has little affect on the seeding for Surrey, for Rugby, a win would help them contend for the top slot in region 6, district 11 as Drake-Anamoose, Bottineau, Newburg-Westhope and TGU are all in contention for seeding one thru five before the postseason begins.
Des Lacs-Burlington 3, Bottineau 1
The Des Lacs-Burlington Lady Lakers traveled north to face the Bottineau Lady Braves in Class B volleyball action Monday, October 21, and the visitors traveled home with the win on 25-15, 28-26, 20-25 and 25-20 in four frames of play.
The end of the second frame, as well as the third seemed to take the momentum from the Lakers for the Braves. Des Lacs-Burlington tightened the belts and worked the fourth frame to their advantage in the end.
While the Lady Lakers took the win, they are firmly established as the third team in region 6, district 12 standings as the postseason approaches. Bottineau was in a five way race for seeding in region 6, district 11 with Drake-Anamoose, Rugby, TGU and Newburg-Westhope and the loss could put the Lady Braves into fifth place in the standings.

St. John 0
The top team in the region 6, district 11 standings going into action Monday evening were the Drake-Anamoose girls. They traveled to take on the last team in the region 4 standings and took the win as visitors 25-21, 25-17 and 25-17 at St. John in Class B action.
Kenmare-Bowbells 3, Berthold 0
The Lady Honkers hosted the Lady Bombers in a region 8, district 16 tops seed- Kenmare-Bowbells- against the region 6, district 12 fourth place team- Berthold- with neither team having any movement regardless of the win or loss.
The home team did protect their home court with the 25-23, 25-17 and 25-20 over the visitors. The win does protect the top ten state ranking for the Honkers.
Kenmare-Bowbells travels to Bishop Ryan today while Berthold will be at Nedrose on Thursday, October 24.
Glenburn 3, Tioga 0
The Tioga Pirates traveled to take on the Glenburn Panthers in Class B volleyball action. The home team protected their court with 25-18, 25-22 and 27-25 frame scores in the competitive match.
Tioga is still looking for seeding in region 8, district 16 with Ray and Powers Lake/Burke Central unsettled between second and fourth yet.
Glenburn sits solid at fifth place in the region 6, district 12 standings as the postseason play quickly approaches.
Beulah 3, Killdeer 0
Killdeer traveled to Beulah in region 7 volleyball action and the home team took the win in three straight 26-24, 25-17 and 25-21 to try moving up into the middle of the standings for postseason play.
North Shore-Plaza 3, Parshall 2
In a heated battle between neighboring teams, the home team from North Shore-Plaza held on for the win over the visitors from Parshall with 25-23, 18-25, 25-21, 23-25 and 15-12 scores..
The teams traded frames with North Shore-Plaza taking frames one and three while Parshall took frames two and four. The final deciding frame was 15-12 as the Wildcats sent the Braves home with the close loss.
Going into the match, both teams were in contention for second place seeding in region 8, district 15 with New Town and Alexander. The win gives the hosts from North Shore-Plaza the edge while they wait for the results of the other district games.
Trenton 3, Stanley 2
The home team from Trenton posted 25-13, 24-26, 23-25, 25-3 and 15-9 in a come from behind win over the visitors from Stanley.
The Lady Tigers looked in control in the first frame only to have the Lady Blue Jays turn the tables for frames two and three and had to fight back into the tie and eventual win in a tough Class B, region 8 volleyball contest.
Trenton sits atop the region 8, district 15 standings while Stanley is at sixth place in region 8, district 16 ranks. Both teams are in the slots they will hold for the start of postseason play.
Powers Lake-Burke Central 3, New Town 0
The Eagles of New Town hosted Powers Lake-Burke Central and the visitors took the win with 25-13, 25-23 and 25-13 win in the end.0
