Minot State’s Fried NSIC Defense Player of the Week
Morgan Fried
Another stellar weekend defensively earned the Minot State women’s soccer team honors from the NSIC.After back-to-back shutouts on the road by the Beavers, senior defender Morgen Fried was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week for helping lead the way in Minot State’s two shutouts.
Friday, with Fried playing all 90 minutes, MSU (6-2-4 overall, 4-2-3 NSIC) allowed just two shots on goal on the road at second-place Bemidji State as the visitors scored a 1-0 win.
Sunday, Fried again played all 90 minutes and helped the Beavers blank host Minnesota Crookston 2-0 as MSU allowed just three shots on goal.
The honor is the first this season for the Fried and the second for MSU’s soccer team since goalkeeper Siriana Gudino – who finished with 5 saves on the weekend and moved into the NSIC lead with 7 shutouts this fall – was named NSIC Goalie of the week on September 9.
Fried and the rest of the MSU women’s soccer team are back on the road this weekend playing at Concordia, St. Paul on Friday, October 25, and at Winona State on Sunday, October 27.
