Berthold rallies past Bishop Ryan 3-2

The Berthold Bombers traveled to Bishop Ryan High School on Thursday night, October 10, and walked away with their second win of the week. The Lions took the Bombers to five sets where Berthold ultimately won 3-2.
In the first match, the Bombers were dominant at the net winning with a score of 25-16. The Lions did not give up though, coming back and beating the Bombers in the second match with a score of 27-25. Bishop Ryan did not stop there, they won the third match 26-24 giving themselves a 2-1 lead against the Bombers. Berthold wasn’t done yet and responded with two back-to-back match wins against Bishop Ryan, winning the fourth set 25-21 and winning the fifth 15-13.
Tochi Udekwe had 24 assists, 15 kills, 12 digs and three aces against the Bombers. Anne Fricke finished with 18 kills and a pair of blocks. Olivia Demars had 19 digs and seven kills. Cambrie Johannes had 18 assists and a pair of aces for the Lions.
Kasey Simons finished with 70 digs, 17 kills and a pair of blocks. Addison Neshem had 17 kills, three blocks, and three aces. Ella Brown had 40 assists and Shayne Simons finished with 20 digs and six kills against the Lions.
The Lions head to Langdon Area High School this Saturday, October 12, to compete in the Langdon Tournament for their next matchup.
Minot High 3, Jamestown 0
Minot High made the trip to Jamestown to face the fifth ranked Blue Jays in girl’s volleyball and came away with the win over the Western Dakota Association (WDA) foe. The Majettes posted 25-14, 25-13 and 26-24 scores for the sweep on the road.
Kynsli Gillmore posted 11 kills and one dig in the game. Jayda Schall had nine kills, two digs and was in on a pair of blocks. Raegan Terrel had six assists and 15 digs for the Majettes. Leah Walter had seven kills while Eve Knutson posted two blocks and three kills in the win.
Minot High will travel across town to play at Minot North on Tuesday, October 15, in their next WDA action.
Legacy 3, Minot North 1
The Sentinels traveled to Bismarck for a WDA volleyball match against the hosting Sabers. The hosts won 25-13, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-14 over Minot North.
The Sentinels will host the Majettes on Tuesday, October 15, in their next WDA matchup.
