Volleyball season gaining momentum as season heats up
Several girls volleyball teams were in action across the region in both Class A and Class B games. Those games done prior to print with stat sheets are listed below.
Minot High 3, Williston 0
WILLISTON – The Williston volleyball team made the trek to Minot High for Western Dakota Association (WDA) action and the hosting Majettes earned the sweep with 25-21, 25, 16 and 25-10 in the end.
Minot High was led by Leah Walter with nine kills while Eve Knutson and Jayda Schall added two blocks each. McKinzie Dufner had 24 assists and three aces while Regan Terrel recorded 12 digs in the match.
The Majettes (3-0, 4-5) will host Watford City (1-1, 2-6) on Thursday, September 12, and Dickinson (2-0, 5-3) on Saturday, September 14, for the week.
Drake-Anamoose 3, Nedrose 1
DRAKE – The Lady Raiders representing Drake-Anamoose hosted the Cardinals from Nedrose in Tuesday action. The Lady Cardinals jumped off to an early 1-0 lead with the 25-22 win in frame one. The Lady Raiders would dig in and recover with 25-18, 25-24 and 25-14 wins down the stretch to defend the home court.
Mariah Mack had 15 kills while Evelyn Isaak added nine for the home team. Bella Boucher had 15 assists, four aces and two blocks in the win. Bailey Clott posted 17 digs for Drake-Anamoose.
Nedrose’s MaHalle Lizotte had 22 digs in the game. Kenna Huff added ten kills and 16 assists in the effort on the road.
Velva 3, Bishop Ryan 2
VELVA – The Lions made the track to face the Aggies in Velva and the outcome of the game was in question from the start due to the evenly matched teams.
Velva won the first frame 25-23 while Bishop Ryan took the second 25-16 for a 1-1 tie at that stage. The Aggies won frame three 25-17 while the Lions took frame four 25-8 for the 2-2 tie going into the fifth frame. The home team edged the Lions 16-14 for the win
Surrey 3, Bottineau 0
SURREY – The Surrey Mustangs posted scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-15 over the visiting Bottineau Stars.
