Several local volleyball teams hard at work

Several of the local high school girls volleyball teams opened the week with games on Tuesday, September 17, and will continue on Thursday as the season is on the downhill slide towards the end tournaments.

Minot North 3, Watford City 0

In a match that was closer than the score indicated, the pesky visiting Wolves worked hard to even matches and tried to take frame two from the hosting Sentinels at Minot North. In the end, the home team won 25-12, 25-23 and 25-18 on their home court.

Watford City was led by senior Fallon Sampsel with seven kills, two blocks and two aces in the effort. The Wolves junior Bailey Mattson added 11 digs and nine assists for Watford City. Senior Adilyn Schaff recorded four kills, four digs and an ace in the effort.

Mandan will be at Minot North on Thursday, September 19, for the Sentinels next Western Dakota Association (WDA) match.

Our Redeemer’s Christian School 3, North Star 0

The Knights played consistent volleyball enroute to the 25-19, 25-17 and 25-19 sweep of North Star in action on Tuesday.

MiKayla Altringer had eight kills and Tarva Carlson added seven for the Knights. Altrigner also had two blocks at the net while Carlson recorded two aces as well. Grace Olsen had two assists and six digs in the match. Kadyn Braun hit three aces with five digs as well.

Our Redeemer’s will host Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood on Thursday.

South Prairie-Max 3, TGU 0

The Royals continued their play with a 25-10, 25-15 and 25-17 win over the Titans on Tuesday, September 17 in Class B action.

Senior Azjiah Trader led South Prairie-Max with 14 kills and a block. Freshman Reagan Trudell had 24 assists for the Royals and senior Delaney Hankel added seven aces and a pair of digs in the win.

Rugby 3, Nedrose 2

In one of Tuesday’s most competitive matches, the Rugby Panthers were able to just edge the Nedrose Cardinals in Class B action with 26-24, 18-25, 25-23, 14-25 and 16-14 scoring.

Lacie Deplazes had 15 kills for Rugby while teammate Reese Guilickson added nine the pair had three and two blocks respectively. Deplazes added 30 digs in the match while Elise Fahnestock had 16 as well. Jesse Wolf posted 20 assists while Ava Jacobson had 16 for the Panthers.

Nedrose was led by Lilly Nelson who had 16 kills, five aces, two blocks and 19 digs in the effort. Kenna Huff had 26 assists for the Cardinals and added 19 digs. MaHalle Lizotte had 20 digs as well.
