Minot North drops WDA contest to Bismarck Century

The Bismarck Century boys soccer team traveled north to face the Sentinels and took home a 6-3 win over Minot North when they went home on Thursday, in Western Dakota Association (WDA) action.

Minot North drew first blood in the first half with a goal by sophomore Logan Ovitt from a pass by junior Emmerson Ries after six minutes played in the game. The Patriots would score the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The Sentinels would tie the game at 2-2 at the start of the second half when Ovitt would hit the net again, this time unassisted, after four minutes had ticked off the clock. Century would take a 5-2 lead before Minot North found the net again in the second half. Sentinels freshman Jayden Marshall took a pass from eighth grader Gavin Wald with five minutes left to play in the game,

Minot North eighth grade goalie Macklin Kelly had ten saves on the night.

The Sentinels will play Mandan-St. Mary’s on Saturday, and be at Bismarck High Thursday, September 12, for their next games.

Jamestown 5, Minot High 1

The Magicians made the trip to Jamestown to take on the Blue Jays and returned home with the road loss. The home team scored five goals in the first half that went unanswered until the last minute of play when Magi senior Dylan Jackson scored an unassisted goal prior to half time,

Neither team scored in the second half. Minot High goalie Grayden Wald had 11 saves in the effort.

Minot High will play Bismarck High on Saturday, and be at Dickinson on Tuesday, September 10, in their next games.
