Fifth ranked Bishop Ryan keeps pace with win over Nedrose

Kari GIbb/MDN Bishop Ryan senior Jett Lundeen (9) scampers past Nedrose sophomore Davylon Clemons (7) and senior Austin Hardisky (79) for a gain in action at Herb Parker Stadium Friday in the game between the hosting Lions and visiting Cardinals.

The Nedrose Cardinals loaded the bus and made the short trip to Herb Parker Stadium to take on the Class A fifth ranked Bishop Ryan Lions. The smaller, less experienced Cardinals were 0-2 while the Lions held the 2-0 mark to start the game. In the end, the hosts scored in all three areas of play- especially the kicking game and turnovers- enroute to the 43-0 win.

The Lions scored with passing and rushing on offense, scored by causing fumbles and returning them for touchdowns as well as blocking punts. By the end of the first quarter of play, Bishop Ryan had built a 35-0 lead.

The Lions kept pace with top ranked Kindred who beat LIsbon, third ranked Velva-Garrison-Drake/Anamoose who beat Surrey and fourth ranked Langdon/Edmore/Munich who beat Harvey-Wells County. Second ranked Central Cass also had little trouble with Northern Cass as all five top teams began to distance themselves from the pack.

The Lions will take their game on the road next week to face Des Lacs-Burlington, who are more dangerous than their record might suggest.

Nedrose made improvements in physicality over the past two weeks. The next steps for the Cardinals will be shoring up special teams and blocking assignments as they prepare to host the Aggies from Velva for a home contest next week.

Starting at $2.99/week.
