Sentinels start season 0-3
WILLISTON – The Sentinels are in their first season, and started their second week of play on the road against the Williston Coyotes. The Sentinels defense tightened game three compared to the first two in week one, but the Coyotes were able to take the 5-2 win over the visitors.
The Sentinels scored one goal in each half, and trailed 2-1 at halftime in the loss of their third Western Dakota Association (WDA) game.
The Coyotes jumped to a 2-0 lead before the Sentinels scored. At the 16 minute mark, sophomore Logan Ovitt hit an unassisted shot to narrow the lead for Williston to 2-1 for the first half.
Williston jumped out to a 3-1 lead with a goal in the first six minutes of the second half. Ovitt would repeat his first half heroics with another unassisted goal roughly one minute later narrowing the Coyotes lead to 3-2 at that point.
The four WDA points so far this season for Williston matched its total all of last season. The Coyotes outscored the Sentinels 3-1 in the second half.
Minot North sophomore Griffin Wald had 11 saves in the net for the game.
The Minot North team will host cross town foe, Minot High at the Sentinels stadium on Thursday, August 22, followed by hosting Bismarck Legacy on Saturday.
