MSU had 68 student-athletes honored for all-around efforts
The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) announced its 2023-24 recipients of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards earlier this month and 68 Minot State University (MSU) student-athletes were honored for their efforts this past academic year in the classroom and in competition.
To qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must have completed at least two years of their collegiate work, be an active member of their Beaver team during the past year, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Leading the way for the Beavers was the MSU softball program with 17 players earning this special distinction: Lexi Barduson, Taryn Bennett, Gabi Dawyduk, Lauryn DeGuzman, Kilee Fehd, Reegan Floyd, Abbey Kelley, Paige Kellogg, Mallory Hoogensen, Anna Lacount, Abby Lohse, Chesie McLaughlin, Hannah Murray, Calley Olson, Izzy Penner, Sophie Sparrow, and Sara Wickler.
Eleven members of the Beaver track and field and cross country program earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, six from the women’s team and five more from the men’s program: Jessica Evenson, Jazmin Gorder, Jacob Jensen, Camden Jasmin, Samuel Kreins, Yoni Neyshtadt, Monica Okopal, Dallas Reese, Nicole Reeves, Sidra Sadowsky, and Emery Smith.
Nine MSU football players earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award: Lafayette Bade, Emmett Espino, Phillip Green, Sean Hoover, Jonathon Leon, Dawson Macleary, David Schneibel, Aden Scott, and John Subiono.
Seven MSU volleyball student-athletes earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award: Paige Ammerman, Tea Boeckel, Kendal Braun, Jaina Macauley, Viktoria Sedova, Sydney Upton, and Savannah Wilson.
Six Beaver baseball players earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award: Trevyn Badger, Tim Carlson, Parker Collett, Shane Kary, Gunnar Kozlowitz, and Brent Riddle.
Four members of the MSU men’s wrestling team earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award: Kelby Armstrong, Brendan Barnes, Logen Fischer, and Cayden White.
Four members of the Beaver golf program earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, three women and one man: Zoe Banack, Taylor Cormier, Abigail Goettle, and Joshua Tu.
Four MSU women’s soccer players earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award: Sierra Haren, Jordyn Knipper, Maddy St. Yves, and Rebecca Storr.
MSU had three members each from the Beaver men’s basketball team and women’s basketball program earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award: Benjamin Bohl, Jaxon Gunville, and Caleb Van De Griend from the men’s team and Vilborg Jonsdottir, Emma Mogen, and Jaime Skeggs from the women’s team.
