Minot North wins inaugural season opener at home
The Minot High football team welcomed Bismarck Century JV to Sentinels field for the historic first game as a varsity squad and ensured a positive page in the school records with a 35-7 win over the Patriots. Minot North scored two touchdowns on the ground and one in the air in the first half to take a 21-0 lead.
One of the key moments in the first half was an interception by sophomore Gavin Tobey to protect the lead for Minot North. Stellar running by senior Carter Coleman, juniors Evan Berg and Christian Deadmond gave Minot North control of the game after the interception. Deadmond also hauled in a pass from Sentinels quarterback, junior Brayden Blikre, for a score as well.
The Patriots would add one score in the second half, but the hosting Sentinels would score twice more for the 35-7 win in the end. Minot North will host Wahpeton on Friday, September 6, in non-conference action next week.
