Minot High, Minot North soccer drop games to end week
Minot High Magiacians soccer team hosted Williston Coyotes on Thursday, while Minot North Sentinels was on the road at Jamestown Blue Jays on Friday, with both teams dropping a game in conference play.
Williston 2, Minot High 1
The Williston Coyotes scored first after 13 minutes of play in the Western Dakota Association (WDA) matchup with the hosting Magicians. Minot High would even the score nine minutes later when Dylan Jackson gathered up a pass from Dylan Oswalt for the goal.
With four minutes to play, the Coyotes added a second goal for the 2-1 win. Joaquin Pulido scored the first goal with Dominik Danko in the assist column. Ricardo Maclias scored the second goal for Williston with Grady Lee adding the assist.
Minot High Magicians goalie, Grayden Wald had five saves in the game while Williston used two goalies. Tristan Boots had two saves while Beckman Tolman added six saves for the Coyotes.
Minot High will be at Jamestown on Thursday for their next game.
Jamestown 6, Minot North 2
The Sentinels made the trip to Jamestown to face the Blue Jays in WDA boys soccer action. The host team put up six goals in the opening half only to be outplayed by Minot North in the second half. The offense by Jamestown was enough for the 6-2 win, but the young, first year team showed tenacity in the second half of play.
Junior Emerson Ries scored the first goal for the Sentinels on a penalty kick. The second goal was by fellow junior Malychi Baldwin with eighth grader Gavin Wald getting the assist. Minot North goalie Griffin Wald had three saves in the first half and one in the second for four overall. The Blue Jays had 16 shots in the game, with ten on goal.
Minot North will travel to Dickinson on Tuesday, and will host Bismarck Century on Thursday or their next action.
