Minot High dominates Bismarck High at home

Kari Gibb/MDN Minot High senior Nolan Callahan returns a shot while facing Bismarck High at the number two doubles in action Thursday, August 29, at Hammond Park.

The Minot High Magicians worked their magic against the visiting Demons from Bismarck High on the tennis courts at Hammond Park on Thursday, August 29, with an 8-1 win on and early senior night for the home team.

To celebrate the senior night, Crayson Schaeffer and Aiden Diehl took the win at number one doubles 6-2, 6-1 over Quinton Wolf and Roger Karalus. Senior Nolan Callahan paired with Oliver Thompson won at number two doubles 6-2, 6-1 as well over Reed Romsaas and Luke Naslund to give the Magicians the 2-0 lead.

At the number three doubles, Thomas Griffith and Conor Callahan defeated Max Chouinard and Miles Hanson 6-0, 6-1 to sweep the varsity doubles.

In the singles, Diehl would take Wolf 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles to set the tone. Nolan Moore would face Romsaas at number two singles and retire giving the Demons their lone win.

At number three singles, senior Callahan beat Karalus 6-0, 6-2 for the 5-1 edge over Bismarck. Griffith at number four singles won 6-0, 6-1 over Bismarck’s Luke Naslund. At number five singles, Thompson beat Chouinard 6-0, 6-0 while Conor Callahan beat Quinn Kleser 6-0, 6-1 at the number six singles.

Minot High will host Williston on Thursday, September 5, in non-conference play next week.
