Results from Souris Valley Slugfest

The Souris Valley Slugfest has concluded after 55 games over three days at two locations in Minot. Teams played games to establish seeding, then played games to determine the champs for the 10U, 12U and 14U divisions.
“It was such an amazing two weekends of tournaments,” said Magic City Youth Baseball (MCYB)President, Dan Dangerfield. “It’s always a treat to have teams from [around] our town, especially from Canada join us for a weekend of baseball.”
Minot teams would play in the 10U and 12U championship games. The 12U team would take first place at the tournament while the 10U team would place second.
“We are extremely proud of our Minot teams, all of which did a great job and represented our community with excellence and sportsmanship,” said Dangerfield of the competitiveness.
10U – Mandan Mavericks 6,

In the Pool A, Minot was able to post a 3-0 record with 58 runs scored and six runs allowed. Williston 10U was 2-1 in second place, Redvers A’s finished 1-2 in third place and Carnduff Astros were 0-3 in Pool A.
The Mandan Mavericks were also 3-0 and the top seed in Pool B with 30 runs scored and five runs allowed. Oildome Riggers were 2-1 while Missouri River Naturals finished 1-2 and Parkland Brewers were 0-3 in Pool B.
12U – Minot Aces 10, Estevan Brewers 7
The Minot Aces were 3-0 in Pool A play and scored 36 runs while they allowed only two runs in their seeding games. The Bismarck Americans AAA team were 3-0 in the Pool B play, but lost to the Pool A second seeded team, the Estevan Brewers, to keep them from the championship game.
Estevan finished pool play at 2-1 before beating Bismarck Americans to reach the final. Devils Lake were 1-2 in Pool A while White Butte was 0-3 in the same pool.
The Mandan Mavericks were 2-1 in Pool B while Williston 12U was 1-2 and the Saskatoon Braves were 0-3 in the same pool.
14U – Bismarck American AAA Navy 3, Regina Wolfpack 0
The Bismarck Americans AAA Navy team finished seeding play at 3-1 with 38 runs scored and allowed ten runs in Pool Navy. The Dickinson Pony Express were also 3-1 with 29 runs scored and 23 runs allowed for second place in the seeding. Bismarck American AAA Red finished 2-2 while the Minot Aces were 0-4 in the pool play.
The Regina Wolfpack finished 2-2 with 25 runs scored and 19 runs allowed in Pool Yellow. Regina Renegades finished 0-4 while the KBL SeLects were also 0-4 in the same pool.
The Minot Aces finished the tournament with a 6-5 win over the Regina Wolfpack.
“We are so grateful to the Minot Mark and Recreations, the field crews, Visit Minot and the Many, Many local sponsors of the MCYB,” said Dangerfield. “Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do what we did.”
