Night Mares win three over ‘Bees

The Madison Night Mares made the trip to Minot to face the hosting Honeybees in a doubleheader on Saturday, July 20, and the third game on Sunday, July 21, with the visitors taking all three wins.

The Honeybees hit the road for the next six games in La Crosse and Madison with a final stop in Mankato before heading home to Minot.

Madison Night Mares 18, Honeybees 4

Ten runs scored at the top of the first inning of play, followed by six runs at the top of the fifth inning enroute to the win.

The Honeybees scored three runs at the bottom of the second inning. Sydney Farmer doubled to start the inning. Shayna Myshrall followed with a home run to score Farmer and herself. Caitlyn Dannenfelzer singled to left field and advanced with an Ariana Diaz sacrifice bunt. Jasmine Blizzard hit a sacrifice fly to score Dannenfelzer for the third run.

At the bottom of the fifth inning, Diaz was walked and with two outs Abbie Stigler singled to left to bring Diaz in for the final score.

Minot was 6-for-18 batting with three errors as a team. Gregg was 2-for-3 at the plate while Stigler, Farmer, Myshrall and Dannenfelzer had the other hits in the game. Jenna Boos began the game at the mound and was swapped out after she allowed six runs on four hits. Kierra Fournier pitched four innings and allowed nine runs- eight earned- on nine hits, walked three batters and tallied three strikeouts. Payton Whitehead pitched one inning and allowed three runs on two hits in relief.

Madison was 15-for-33 at the plate and played error free ball. Mia Johnson was 3-for-4 batting with four RBIs and scored two runs. Haley Remington was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs at the plate. Lexie Haver was 2-for-3 and Tia Durst and Danielle Lucy were each 2-for-4 batting. Kendall Weik pitched all five innings and allowed four runs on six hits, walked two batters, three strikeouts and one home run.

Madison Night Mares 6, Honeybees 0

The game was very contested through six innings as the Madison Night Mares scored one run at the top of the fifth inning to break the 0-0 tie and going into the last inning of play the Night Mares held the 1-0 lead. Madison would drop five runs at the top of the seventh for the win.

Minot was 3-for-22 at the plate and had one error as a team. Abbie Stigler, Shayna Myshrall and Trinity Gregg each had hits in the game. Jenna Boos pitched six and two-third innings and allowed six runs on five hits. Payton Whitehead pitched one-third of an inning and walked two batters in relief.

Madison was 5-for-23 batting and played error free ball. Rylee Rogers was 2-for-3 and scored two runs in the win. Mia Johnson, Brooke Steinhorst and Kayla Thomas each added hits in the game. Karlie McKenzie pitched six innings and allowed no runs on three hits, walked five batters and recorded seven strikeouts. Holly Lowenberg pitched one inning in relief.

Madison Night Mares 17, Honeybees 8

Madison jumped out to an early lead with the four runs at the top of the first inning of play. The Night Mares would add two more runs at the top of the third for the 6-0 lead. Minot answered with three runs at the bottom of the third and four more at the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 7-6 lead going into the fifth inning.

Madison would tack on two runs at the top of the fifth and Minot answered with one run at the bottom of the same inning for an 8-8 tie game going into the sixth inning. Minot would not add additional offense while Madison added one run at the top of the sixth and eight more at the top of the seventh inning for the win.

Minot was 17-for-38 at the plate with one error as a team. Shannon Nelson was a perfect 4-for-4 batting. Trinity Gregg was 4-for-5 while Shayna Myshrall was 3-for-4 and Sydney Farmer with Caitlyn Dennenfelzer each were 2-for-4 batting. Abbie Stigler and Victoria Flores each had a hit in the game.

The Honeybees used five pitchers. Kierra Fournier pitched two innings and allowed three runs on four hits. Trinity Gregg pitched one-third inning and allowed one run on one pitch, a home run. Payton Whitehead pitched two and two-third innings and allowed four runs on four hits. Jasmine Blizzard pitched two innings and allowed nine runs on 11 hits while Ariana Diaz closed the game in relief.
