PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Matt Strahm can now add “Major League Baseball All-Star” to his professional baseball resume.

Strahm, a 2010 West Fargo High graduate, was named a 2024 MLB All-Star on Sunday, July 7, and will represent the National League as a relief pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 2024 MLB All-Star Game is set to be played Tuesday, July 16, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Strahm is in his ninth season pitching in the MLB. He is 4-1 this season with the Phillies with a 1.59 earned run average and 45 strikeouts.

Strahm signed a two-year free-agent deal with the Phillies on December 9, 2022. He signed a one-year extension with the Phillies prior to the start of the 2024 season and is signed with the team through 2025. During the 2023 regular season, Strahm made 10 starts for the Phillies, but transitioned to a relief pitching role as the season progressed. Strahm finished the regular season 9-5 with a 3.29 earned run average in 87 and two-third innings pitched. He struckout 108 batters in his 56 appearances and recorded two saves.

Strahm is one of seven Phillies to make the All-Star game – the most of any team in Major League Baseball. The Phillies are 58-32 – first place in the National League East Division and best record in the MLB.

Phillies teammates joining Strahm at the All-Star Game are: Bryce Harper (starting first baseman for the National League), Trea Turner (starting shortstop for the National League), Alec Bohm (starting third baseman for the National League), Jeff Hoffman (pitcher), Ranger Suárez (pitcher) and Zack Wheeler (pitcher).

Strahm is the first North Dakota High School graduate to make an All-Star Game roster since Darin Erstad – a 1992 Jamestown High School graduate. Erstad was named an MLB All-Star in 1998 and 2000. Roger Maris – a 1952 Fargo Shanley graduate – was a 7-time MLB All-Star.

Starting at $2.99/week.
