Sentinels on Class A Boys Golf All State team

The idea of reaping a reward at the end of a goal is often what drives competitors to keep going in the heat of the battle. Golf requires athletes not only being competitive but having patience and a cerebral mind.

The NDHSCA 2024 Class A Boys Golf All-State Team was announced, rewarding those who have displayed precision on the golf course throughout the 2023-2024 season. Minot North junior Kasen Rostand and Bennett Bartsch were two of the members that received All-State honors. They anchored the Minot North team to a fifth place finish at the 2024 NDHSAA Boys Class A State Championship with 648 points.

The pair played important roles in Minot North Boys Golf teams’ regular season success: three first-place finishes, seven second-place finishes and a third place finish. They also showed up at the big event, finishing fifth at the 2024 NDHSAA Boys Class A State Championship where the field of competition was at its strongest.

In his most recent performance, Rostad placed fourth at the 2024 NDHSAA Boys Class A State Championship. Rostad finished with an overall score of 155 (+11), going 75 (+3) in the first round and 80 (+8) in the second round. Rostad was the winner of the West Region Tournament individual competition where he helped Minot North to a second place finish and clinched a berth at the Class A State Tournament.

Rostad also finished first place at the St. Mary’s Invitational where Minot North won the meet by one stroke over Century. He had two third place finishes at the Bakken Classic and Mandan Invitational. At the Minot North Invitational, Rostad was tied with Bartsch for fourth place.

Rostad’s other top 10 finishes include: placing fifth at the Bismarck Invitational, sixth at the Century Invitational, eighth at Jamestown Invite and TMCHS Invitationa. There was also a ninth place finish at the Minot High Invitational.

Bartsch started off his 2024 season with a bang! The Minot North junior placed first in the season opener at the century invitational with a score of 70. Bartsch had two second-place finishes, the first at the Jamestown Invite and the second at the Minot High Invitational.

Bartsch placed third at the St. Mary’s invitational that was won by Minot North . He placed fourth at the Minot North Invitational and sixth at the Bakken Classic. His other top 10 finish came at the Mandan Invitational where he placed seventh.

At the 2024 NDHSAA Boys Class A State Championship, Bartsch placed 19th with a score of 162 (+14), going 76 (+4) in the first round and 86 (+10) in the second round.

The other members of the 2024 Class A Boys Golf All-State Team are: Fargo Davies senior Charlie Solberg, Bismarck St. Mary’s sophomore Quinn Shillingstad, Bismarck Century senior Lucas Schoepp, Bismarck Century freshman Parker Beck, Mandan senior Jayce Johnson, Grand Forks Red River senior Ross Koerner, Fargo Davies junior Porter Seidel, Grand Forks Red River sophomore Silas Dusenbury, Grand Forks Red River sophomore Kolby Koerner, Fargo North senior Carson Hannestad.
