Oswalt named Gatorade ND Player of the Year

CHICAGO – Gatorade has been honoring high school students by naming and athlete of the year in each state for each sport. This year, in North Dakota, the honoree is Minot High senior Brayden Oswalt. The Magician was named as the 2023-2024 Gatorade North Dakota Boys Soccer Athlete of the Year In its 39th year of honoring the nation’s most elite high school athletes,

Oswalt played forward for the Minot High team that finished 12-2-6 and placed third at the 2023 NDHSAA Boys Soccer State Tournament in Bismarck.

The 5-foot, 8-inch forward scored 19 goals and added eight assists for the Magicians on the season. As a junior, he scored 12 goals and five assists and led the Magicians with 17 points for the 2022-2023 season. For his career, Oswalt tallied 39 goals and 26 assists with Minot High. At the state soccer tournament, he was named senior athlete of the year as well.

Oswalt has done well on and off the field. He has volunteered time as a youth soccer coach and done charitable work with Christmas baskets for those in need during the holidays. He has also maintained a 4.14 GPA in his studies and will attend the University of Colorado Springs this fall.

Oswalt is the second Magician to receive the Gatorade honor. Isak Tengesdal from Minot High won the award in the 2006-2007 season.
