Minot lost to La Crosse in close game

Kari Gibb/MDN In a race to second base, Hot Tots Jonah Shields stole the base and was safe as Loggers RJ Hamilton had the ball in glove and just missed the tag. La Crosse would win the game 3-2 over Minot.

The Minot Hot Tots (5-9) hosted the La Crosse Loggers (8-7) at Corbett Field in Minot on Thursday June, 13. Both teams are coming off a loss and are behind multiple teams in their respective divisions.

The Loggers scored the game’s first run in the top of the first inning. RJ Hamilton scored off Matthew Miura single to right field to make it a 1-0 Loggers lead.

The Loggers scored their second run in the top of the fourth inning, extending their lead 2-0. Ryan Kucherak scored off Derrick Mitchell single to right field. Morgan would later score on a Tyman Long double to center field to bring the score 3-0.

The Hot Tots made their introduction on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring two runs. A Lucas Pringle two-run home run brought home Evan Dempsey as the Hot Tots’ cut into the lead, but were unable to close the gap with the Loggers winning 3-2.

The Hot Tots batted 2-for-30 and made zero errors. Jonah Shields had a walk. Dempsey batted 1-for-1 and walked once. Pringle batted 1-for-4, scored a run and had two RBI’s. Adam Burghult walked once.

Reichek pitched four innings, allowing seven hits, three runs, one walk and struck out six batters. Leiden pitched two innings, allowing one hit and struck out one batter. Will Smith pitched two innings, allowing three runs, a walk and struck out one batter.

The Loggers batted 11-for-35 and made two errors. Hamilton batted 1-for-4, with a run. Miura batted 4-for-5 and had an RBI. Kucherchak batted 1-for-3, scored a run and had a walk. Trevor Schmidt batted 1-for-4. Mitchell batted 2-for-4, scored a run and had an RBI. Long batted 2-for-4 and had an RBI. Luke Davis walked once.

Brayden Marx pitched two innings, allowing two hits, two runs, two walks and struck out five batters. Ashton Michek pitched five innings, one walk and struck out six batters

The teams will be on the mound again on Friday, June 14, to play the second half of their two games series.
