Honeybees drop two against Habaneros

MANKATO, Minn. – The Honeybees spent the second half of their four game stand with the Mankato Habaneros in Minnesota chasing the win column. Despite the effort, the ‘bees went 0-2 on Monday, June 17, before heading to La Crosse.

Mankato 12, Honeybees 4

Minot got on the board at the top of the first inning of play and held the 1-0 lead until the bottom of the second inning when the Habaneros posted two runs. The Honeybees took the lead back at the top of the third inning of play with two more runs for the 3-2 lead that didn’t last long. Mankato posted six runs at the bottom of the third and three more at the bottom of the fourth inning of play enroute to the 12-4 win

Minot was 11-for-33 batting with two errors as a team. Cairah Curran was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate while Shayna Myshrall, Skyler Dietz and Sydney Farmer each had two hits. Shannon Nelson and Jackie Albrecht each had a hit as well. Albrecht pitched three and one-third innings and allowed ten runs on five hits. Kierra Fournier pitched two-thirds inning and Jasmine Blizzard pitched two innings in relief. Each allowed one run in their time on the mound.

Mankato was 9-for-28 at the plate with two team errors in the win. Indigo Fish was 3-for-4 batting with two RBIs while Savannah Teale was 2-for-4 at the plate. Jessa Snippes pitched all seven innings and allowed four runs on 11 hits. She walked only one batter and recorded ten strikeouts in the win.

Mankato 13, Honeybees 6

The Habaneros jumped to an early 6-0 lead before the Honeybees got on the scoreboard with three runs at the top of the fourth inning of play. Minot was matched with three runs by Mankato in the bottom of the same inning. The Honeybees added three more runs at the top of the fifth inning while the Habaneros added two more at the bottom of the fifth and another two at the bottom of the sixth inning for the 13-6 win.

Minot was 7-for-26 at the plate with three team errors in the game. Sydney Farmer was 2-for-4 batting with three RBIs and scored a run as well. Kierra Fournier, Dominique Baker, Skyler Dietz, Kaitlynne Allen and Shannon Nelson each added a hit in the effort. Fournier pitched the first four and two-third innings and allowed seven runs on ten hits. Jasmine Blizzard pitched one-third inning, Jackie Albrecht pitched two-thirds inning and Trinity Gregg pitched the last one-third inning in relief.

Mankato was 13-for-33 batting with one team error in the win. Jessa Snippes was a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI and scored three runs in the game. Paige Zender was 2-for-3 while Brooke Holmes and Savannah Teale were both 2-for-5 at the plate and combined for six RBIs as well. Jenna Sprague pitched three and one-third innings and allowed three runs on four hits. Riley Stiles pitched one and two-third innings and allowed three runs on three hits. Jayme Scheck pitched two innings and allowed no runs or hits in relief.
