Minot North is second, Minot High at fourth

Both Minot North and Minot High made the trip to Dunseith to play golf in the Turtle Mountain Community High School (TMCHS) Invitational on Saturday, May 11, with ten other schools. Bismarck Century finished in first place with a 301 score while Minot North was second with a 316 while Minot High was fourth with a 323 score. Bismarck St. Mary’s was the third place team with a 318 score.

Tournament was held at the 9-hole Garden Gate Golf Course where conditions were warm and sunny. Bismarck St. Mary’s junior Ryker Landers was medalist with a 72 score.

Sentinel junior Tyler Bast led the scoring for Minot North with a 76 for the round, followed closely by fellow junior Kasen Rostad with a 77 score. Minot North junior Bennett Bartsch shot an 81, sophomore Walter Langhans had an 82, eighth graderTeegan Droll scored 84 and sophomore Kyler Weishaar rounded out the team scoring with a 90 on the day.

Magician eighth grader Parker Argent and freshman Easton Bradley each carded a 77 score for the round to lead the team. Minot High sophomore Mattson Burckhard carded an 84, junior Carter Dunstan an 85, freshman Connor Ressler at 90 and fellow freshman Nathan Peterson shot a 93 for the round.

Blast tied with Century sophomore Afton Bartz for sixth place while Rostad were tied for eighth with Bradley, Argent and Bismarck High senior Tyrus Jangula. Rostad is the 2023 Western Dakota Association (WDA) scoring leader. The next destination is the St. Mary’s Invitational on Tuesday, May 14, followed by the Dickinson Invitational on Friday, May 17.
