Minot High Majettes go 3-0 in Fargo

The Minot High softball team made the trip to Fargo for games on Friday and Saturday and collected three wins on the road. Currently in the North Dakota High School Activities Association, West Fargo Sheyenne holds first place in the standings, providing an opportunity for the West Dakota Association leader, Minot High to gage what the competition is like on the East side of the state.

Minot High 14, GF Red River 0

Majettes senior Ellington Anderson and junior Sydnee Bartsch each went 3-for-4 at the plate while junior Halle Baker and senior Tayler Falcon were 2-for-3 in the game. Isabelle Anderson and junior Gabrielle Rohrer both were 2-for-4 as well. Minot is

As a team, Minot High was 16-for-30 batting and Baker pitched five innings and allowed no runs on three hits while walking one batter and striking out five in the game. The last time the teams met, Minot High split the doubleheader on April 5 with an 11-0 win and a 4-7 loss.

Minot High 5, West Fargo Sheyenne 2

After posting a 2-0 lead at the top of the first inning of play, E. Anderson was walked before Baker hit a homerun as the third batter up. Minot High battled the Sheyenne Mustangs through two and a half innings of scoreless softball at that point.

Both teams added two runs in the fourth inning of play. Minot High junior Kamryn Garaas reached first on an error and after two outs, junior Journey Larson reached on a fly ball error that scored Garaas. E. Anderson then hit a single to score Larson.

The Majettes added a run in the top of the sixth inning. Majette junior Reegan Terrel singled on a bunt and advanced with a single by Larson. E. Anderson again singled to score Terrel and to take the 5-2 win over WF Sheyenne.

The Majettes E. Anderson was 3-for-3 batting while Bartsch was 2-for-4 at the plate. As a team, Minot High was 11-for-34 in the game. Bartsch pitched seven innings and allowed two runs on six hits and had one earned run on the stat line. She walked two batters and had four strikeouts.

Minot High 2, Mayville-Portland 1

In a tightly contested game, the Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg Patriots scored first in the top of the initial inning of play. Minot High was held off the scoreboard until the bottom of the third inning.

Majettes senior Jillian Ackerman reached on a flyball error and advanced on a fielder’s choice play on a grounder by Rohrer. Ackerman was caught stealing third for the out. With one out, E. Anderson bunted to advance Rohrer who stole home as Falcon was walked when she was the next batter. E. Anderson stole third on the play. With Baker at the plate, E. Anderson scored on a pass ball to make the score 2-1 in the game.

Minot High’s Bartsch was 3-for-3 in the game with E. Anderson went 1-for-3 and Rohrer 1-for-2 in the defensive battle. Terrel pitched three innings and allowed one run with three hits while she walked four and struck out four in the effort. Bartsch pitched three innings in relief and had no runs on no hits, walked two batters and struck two batters out as well. As a team, the Majettes were 5-for-24 in the game.

Minot High travels to Watford City on Tuesday, May 14, followed by hosting Mandan on Thursday, May 16, at the Scheels Softball Complex.
