Minot High boys finish third at state

BISMARCK – As the final day of action kicked off at the 2024 NDHSAA State Track and Field Meet, it would mean Class A teams and athletes had one final chance to make a success of the season.

The Minot High boys were up for the challenge as they finished third with an overall team score of 72 points in Class A action.

Minot High junior Benjamin Harris was superb, running a personal best time of 1:55.64 to claim second place in the boy’s Class A 800-Meter Finals.

Tyson Ruzicka of Minot High was fourth in the boy’s Class A 100 Finals with a 11.04 time.

In the boy’s Class A 4×100 Relay Finals, Minot High boys (Vincent Pecoraro, Tyson Ruzicka, Aaron Prestwich, Taven Backman) ran a personal best time of 42.52 to finish in fourth place.

There was more success for Minot High boys (Harrison Stewart, Harris, Kaden Kraft, Jacob Jackson) in the boy’s Class A 4×400 Relay Finals as they finished sixth in a 3:26.36 time.

Minot High boys (Aaron Prestwich, Ruzicka, Grayson Schaeffer, Stewart) placed eighth in the boy’s Class A 4×200 Relay Finals with a 1:30.08 time.

Nathan Wistisen of Minot High was 12th in the boy’s Class A 800 Finals, with a personal time of 1:59.66.

Minot High also had two juniors run personal best times in the boy’s Class A 800 Finals. Dylan Jackson finished 14th with a 1:59.70 time and Jacob Jackson finished 16th with a 2:00.00 time.

Minot North boys finished 14th overall with 12 points.

The Minot North boys (Carter Coleman, Jayce Wendt, Nolan Howey, John Williams III) also ran a personal best time of 3:33.54 in the boy’s Class A 4×400 Relay finals.

Girls

The sprint team (Monica Boakye, Mikayla Whitfield, Kadyn Braun, Maicee Burke) representing Minot High ran a personal best time of 49.59 to place fourth in the girl’s Class A 4×100 Relay Finals.

In the girl’s Class A 4×200 Relay Finals, Minot High (Haleigh Carr, Burke, Eve Knutson, Whitfield) ran a personal best time of 1:45.86 to finish in sixth place.

Minot High sophomore Knutson finished eighth with a 48.00 time in the girl’s Class A 300 Hurdle Finals.

The Minot High girls finished 11th overall in Class A with a team score of 26 points, while Minot North girls finished 21st with three points.
