Des Lacs-Burlington, Renville County win, Bottineau, Ray split

Region 3 softball continued at the Scheels Softball complex Tuesday, May 21, with four games. The Mavericks and the Lakers tallied wins while Ray and Bottineau split games.

Des Lacs/Burlington 6, Bottineau 5

The Lakers won an evenly matched game with Stars 6-5 and will advance to play Renville County today. The game was tied 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning of play with Sierra Yale reached base on error and Zannah Bjerklie was intentionally walked, as was Shay Holen to load the bases. The next batter was Mya Neshem and she was patient enough to be walked as well, scoring the winning run.

The Lakers were 5-for-25 as a team with two errors in the game. Yale pitched seven innings and allowed five runs on nine hits but struck out 13 batters in the game. PiperFeller was 2-for-3 for the Lakers.

The Stars were 9-for-29 as a team batting. Kaia Hennings pitched six innings and allowed six runs on five hits with an earned run tally of four runs. She walked seven batters and struck out nine in the game. She was also 2-for-3 at the plate while Morgan Schweitzer was 3-for-3 batting.

Renville County 4, Ray 3

Renville sent Ray to face Bishop Ryan in a later game with the 4-3 win and enjoyed the rest of the evening off.

The Mavericks were 3-for-23 batting as a team with four errors in the game. Ginger Savelkoul pitched seven innings and allowed three runs on three hits with an earned run mark of two runs. She also struck out 12 batters.

The Jays were 3-for-30 in the game at the plate with four errors in the game. Brinlee Cancade pitched six innings and allowed four runs on three hits with an earned run tally of two runs. She walked four batters and had eight strikeouts.

Ray 10, Bishop Ryan 1

Ray overcame a slow first inning to post runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings while holding Bishop Ryan to one run in the top of the third inning of play. As a team, Ray was 11-for-28 at the plate. Autumn Bloms was 3-for-4 while Kaydence Sargent was 2-for-3 in the game. Abby Olson and Maddix Faulk were each 2-for-4 in the win. Faulk pitched seven innings and allowed one run on three hits with an earned run mark of zero for the game.

As a team, the Lions were 3-for-26 with Haylee Schwan, Kirstin Brunner and Cambree Zwak getting the hits. Brunner pitched the six innings and allowed ten runs on 11 hits for an earned run mark of seven in the game.

Bottineau 19, Tioga 10

Bottineau bounced back to claim the win over Tioga and continue play tomorrow.
