Gedak finishes in top 10 at NSIC Championships

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Minot State men’s golf team played its best round of the week to finish ninth at the NSIC Championship, which concluded Sunday at the Adams Pointe Golf Club.

The Beavers shot a team total of 18-over 306 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 69-over 933 (314-313-306).

Chase Gedak led the way for Minot State as he fired an even-par 72 in the final round to maintain his hold on eighth place in the individual standings. Gedak finished with a 54-hole score of 4-over 220 (75-73-72), eight shots off the tournament lead and two strokes out of the top five who each earned NSIC All-Tournament honors.

Minnesota State, Mankato swept the tournament titles as Max Brud won the individual crown by one stroke over teammate Ben Laffen as Brud shot a 4-under 212 (69-73-70) for the week, while Brud and Laffen led the way for the Mavericks won also claimed the team title by 23 shots with a team score of 6-under 858 (286-296-276).

Zach Hendrickson was next for the Minot State men as he finished 32nd at 17-over 233 (78-81-74), then came Joshua Tu, who tied for 35th at 21-over 237 (78-79-80), Max Karnik, who tied for 41st at 29-over 245 (83-82-80), and Casey Fjeld, who tied for 43rd at 36-over 252 (84-80-88).

The NSIC Championship was the final event of the season for the Minot State men’s team.

The Minot State women’s golf team now heads to Missouri for their NSIC Championship held April 26-28 at the Paradise Pointe Golf Club.
