Pair of Lions win state titles

FARGO — State champion is a new title that two Bishop Ryan wrestlers can add to their collection. Drew Zwak defeated Jace Nitschke of South Border in sudden victory. The only loss of the regular season for Zwak was to Nitschke. The win came at the most opportune time.

Coy Okeson at 285 pounds defeated Ben Roundy of Killdeer 12-2 for the major decision and added points for the team. The two titles kept Bishop Ryan in the top ten at ninth with 77.5 points in the Class B tournament.

South Border is in first with 185 team points while Lisbon is second with 150. New Salem-Almont holds third with 115.5 and Northern Lights are right behind at 110.5 while Carrington rounds out the top five with 85. Velva is seventh at 81 and Stanley at 11th with 74 with team duals to be held.

In the Class A tournament, Bismarck is in first place with a wide margin at 219 points. Dickinson is second with 151 and Sheyenne at third with 150.5 points. Devils Lake sits at eighth with 85 points. Minot has had several wrestlers do well in the rounds and with 75 points is in ninth place.
