Majettes handle visiting Patriots

Kari Gibb/MDN Minot High sophomore Maggie Fricke (2) drives past Bismarck Century defender Erika Lee (33) at Minot High gym Friday.

The Minot High girls basketball team improved to 19-2 with a win over the visiting Bismarck Century girls. The loss drops the Patriots to 15-5 for the year. Despite the visitors being energetic at the chance to take on the top ranked Majettes, it was not enough as Minot High led 46-24 at half and posted a 77-59 win.

Minot High weathered the early minutes of aggressive defense by the Patriots. That patience allowed the Majettes to settle into three point shooting when Century doubled down in the paint and then feed the ball inside when the outside shooting pulled the Patriot defenders from the inside to cover the outside shooters.

Bismarck Century did work hard to stay shot for shot with Minot High, but they could not keep pace with making the shots that the Majettes hit.
