Minot cheerleaders receive UCA Superior Award

The Minot High cheerleading team recently participated in the Universal Cheerleading Association Camp. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams received the Superior Award for their routines at the camp.

The Minot High cheerleading team recently attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Camp, where the team received instruction in a number of disciplines. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams were awarded the Superior Award for their camp routines and the Superior Trophy for their hard work.

The three-day camp was held from Aug. 7-9, with team members receiving instruction from three UCA staff members.

Among the disciplines the squads received coaching in were sideline coaching, safety awareness, spirit prop workshop, stunt class, goal setting, pyramid class, game day cheers, frenzy class, motion technique class and stunt trouble shooting.

The girls also received private coaching and leadership training.

Fourteen Majettes received the All-American Award. This honor allows the recipients to perform at special events across the United States. Those honored include Naomi Nygaard, Navae Bernsdorf, Lizzy Drago, Caleah Eddy, Kyleigh Golde, Taya Siedschlag, Isabel Juarez, Macee Barber, Lely Rivera, Akina Pallera, Isabella Roll, Victoria Calderon, Kennedy Visocsky and Jaylin Thomas-Joyner.

In March, Minot High won its third consecutive state title in Class A – Cheer/Dance at the 2023 North Dakota Cheer Coach Association Winter Cheerleading Competition. The Majettes also won the Game Day division for the fourth consecutive year, and they placed second in the Time Out division.

The Minot High cheerleading team is coached by Vytalli Klimpel, assisted by Aleena Norris, Shay Green, and Maddie Holmes.
