Bull and bronc riders show their strength at two-night event

Sean Williams/MDN Riders from all over competed at All Seasons Arena for the bull riding challenge and ranch bronc riding during Monday and Tuesday of the North Dakota State Fair.

A staple of the North Dakota State Fair took place on Monday and Tuesday, as Mosbrucker bulls and broncs, as well as riders and fans made their way to All Seasons Arena for the bull riding challenge and ranch bronc riding.

While plenty of local riders participated in the thrilling action, there were riders from all over who came to the Magic City to put their skills to the test on a big stage.

The event featured winners on both nights for bull riding, while bronc riding was a slightly different event where the judges took an average across the two nights to determine who would take home the prizes.

In bull riding on Monday, Beau Gardner took the top spot and had the second highest score across both days with an 84. Tell Jacobs had a score of 77 for the second-best finish on Monday, followed by Jesse Kline’s score of 70 and Wesley Smith’s score of 57 to round out the riders who placed.

Tuesday featured even more riders who scored, as six walked away with a prize. Tucker Mertens had a score of 88, which was the best score throughout both days of bull riding. Dalton Wright (79), Denver Leitch (78), Marshall Senger (74), John Jacobs (54) and Grady Young (48) made up the rest of the finishers from Tuesday’s action.

In ranch bronc riding, Teyvian Frye scored an average of 141 for first place in the event. Cody McCarthy (129), Rye Johnston (101), Caden McCarthy (76), Clayton Dana (73) and Owen Garreaux (64) were the rest of the ranch bronc riders who placed and received a prize.
