During the opening night of a two-game series with the Austin Bruins, the Minot Minotauros secured a spot in the Robertson Cup Playoffs with a win on Friday night.
Heading into the final game on Saturday night, all that was left to determine was what seed and where the Minotauros would suit up to begin their playoff series.
With an opportunity to finish as high as second and as low as fourth in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) Central Division, there were a variety of results on the line, depending on how Saturday night’s contest fared.
Following a 2-0 loss to the Bruins on Saturday night, the Minotauros finished in fourth place of the NAHL Central Division and now know where they will begin their playoff series later this week.
For the third consecutive week, the Minotauros will face the Bruins in the one versus four matchup out of the Central Division.
Before the last two weeks, the Bruins had the Tauros’ number by winning seven games and losing only one, while sweeping the Tauros three times during the regular season.
Lately, however, the Tauros have righted the ship by posting a 3-1 record against the Bruins in their last four matchups.
The Tauros handled their business extremely well in what was the most important stretch of the season. Heading into the last four weeks of the regular season, Minot posted a 6-2 record to help them secure a playoff spot.
This Friday and Saturday, games one and two will be played in Austin with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. both nights.
On Friday, April 28 the Minotauros will host the Bruins at the Maysa Arena for a 7:35 p.m. puck drop. If necessary, they will play at the Maysa Arena again on April 29 at the same time.
Since it’s a best-of-five matchup, if the series goes the distance the final game would be on Monday, May 1 at 7:05 p.m. in Austin.
