Minot High focused on cheerleading three-peat

Having already put five tournament weekends and over 70 games under their pom-poms during the 2022-23 winter season, the Minot High Cheer Team looks to give fans more to cheer about as they tumble towards a three-peat at the 2023 NDCCA State Winter Cheerleading Championship on Saturday.

Featuring 29 members from the varsity basketball, varsity hockey, and junior-varsity basketball cheer teams, Minot High enters this week’s competition eyeing a third-straight title after winning the 2022 Winter Championship and repeating as the top of the North Dakota cheer pyramid this past fall.

Comprised of seven events across Class A and Class B varsity, junior varsity, and middle school divisions, Saturday’s championship will witness teams showcasing their skills in Cheer/Dance, Game Day, Time Out Cheer, and Stunt Group events, along with individual events including All-Around, Top Sideline, and Jump-Off.

Storming into the competition as the defending champions of the 2022 Cheer/Dance, Game Day, and Time Out Events, Minot High coaches Vytalli Klimpel, Aleena Norris, Angela Speiser, and Maddie Holmes have their team pepped up and ready to battle it out across all seven events taking place.

As well, Erik Ramstad will compete in the Time Out Cheer division, coached by Carly Johnson and Tali Perez.

The competition kicks off on Saturday at Legacy High School in Bismarck with the Parade of Athletes at 8:45 a.m., followed by the start of events at 9 a.m.

Cash admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students.

Starting at $2.99/week.
