Bell, Fricke land on All-State Team

Being named to an All-State team is an unbelievable accomplishment that athletes work extremely hard for. For some, it takes years for them to see their hard work pay off and they only get a chance to be named to an All-State team once or twice.

For Leelee Bell and Maggie Fricke of the Minot High girls’ basketball team, the pair just wrapped up their freshman seasons and were named to the 2023 All-State First Team and Second Team respectively, marking the second time in their careers that they have been All-State players.

Bell was named to the second team last year but has moved up and received a first team selection this year. Through 24 games, Bell averaged 19.5 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, and 2.2 blocks per game this season.

Fricke finds herself on the second team in back-to-back seasons. This year, she averaged 17.1 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game, and 4 assists per game through 24 games.

Bell and Fricke continue building prep basketball careers that are already extraordinary, with years of experience still to come. From breaking single-game school records to now being two-time All-State players, the future is bright for not just these two, but for the entire Minot High girls’ basketball program.

Rounding out the 2023 All-State First Team was Miriley Simon from West Fargo, Logan Nissley and Bergan Kinnebrew from Century, and Jocelyn Schiller from Grand Forks Red River. Nissley won North Dakota’s Ms. Basketball award, while Kinnebrew and Simon were finalists for it.

Brenna Dick from West Fargo Sheyenne, Ella Falk from Jamestown, Brooklyn Felchle from Legacy, Amya Gourneau from Turtle Mountain, Chloe Pfau from West Fargo, Ashton Safranski from Fargo Davies, and Scout Woods from Wahpeton all were named to the 2023 All-State Second Team, in addition to Fricke.
