With the current format of Class B boys’ basketball coming to an end, the Central Cass Squirrels will be remembered not just for their perfect season, but also for being the final state champs in the way Class B was formatted.
Another unique group who will have a special place in history are those who were named to the 2023 North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NDAPSSA) Class B Boys Basketball All-State Team, as some will move up a class with the upcoming three-class system changing the landscape of the current class structure.
Among those who were named to the All-State Teams were a handful of local athletes in Tyson Enget from Powers Lake/Burke Central (First Team), Walker Braaten from Westhope-Newburg (Second Team), Brady Feller from Bishop Ryan (Second Team), Connor Kerzmann from Garrison (Second Team), and Carson Yale from Des Lacs-Burlington (Second Team).
