MSU’s Kindred named Academic All-American

The MSU soccer program saw their remarkable season come to an end last month when they fell just short in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) championship to Bemidji State.

Even though MSU would have loved to be the ones hoisting up the championship trophy, they still have a lot to be proud and their accomplishments in 2022 deserve to be celebrated.

One of the players who helped the team put together a brilliant season was goaltender Maddie Kindred, who set school records for single-season and career shutouts. The one thing she couldn’t stop was the number of accolades coming her way following the season.

After piling up 14 shutouts in 2022, Kindred was named to the All-NSIC First Team, and her recognition wouldn’t stop there.

Proving that she makes an equal impact in the classroom, On Tuesday, it was announced that Kindred was named a Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators.

As a nursing major, Kindred had to maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA to be eligible for the honor and had to be a starter or significant contributor to her team. She checked off all those boxes.

After adding 14 more shutouts to her name this year, the senior piled up a total of 26 shutouts in three seasons for the Beavers.

Starting at $2.99/week.
