Minot High, Bishop Ryan programs post academic wins as NDHSAA Team Scholars

Led by a state-best Majettes girls’ cross country team, eight athletic programs from Minot High School took home academic honors on Wednesday when the NDHSAA announced their December 2022 Team Scholars recipients.

Although better known for racking up sensational statistics in the realm of high school athletics, several boys’ and girls’ fall sports teams from Minot High and Bishop Ryan proved they can put up championship numbers academically as well after earning North Dakota High School Athletics Association (NDHSAA) Team Scholars accolades on Wednesday.

Honoring programs from around the state that have posted a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average (GPA) or higher across their roster thus far in the 2022-2023 school year, the NDHSAA bestowed the prestigious Team Scholars designation to a number of Minot High and Bishop Ryan squads whose stellar collective efforts in the classroom served to put the ‘student’ in student-athletes.

Comprised of students from both the Magic City and Central campuses, eight fall sports teams from Minot High claimed Team Scholars recognition, including football (3.28), boys’ cross country (3.43), girls’ cross country (3.88), boys’ soccer (3.49), boys’ tennis (3.64), girls’ golf (3.69), girls’ swimming & diving (3.66), and volleyball (3.62).

Adding to the already outstanding achievement of nabbing the Team Scholars designation, the Majettes cross country program also topped all honorees from around North Dakota with a state-best, near-perfect 3.88 team GPA.

Four athletic teams collected honors for Bishop Ryan, consisting of football (3.45), volleyball (3.86), boys’ cross country (3.46), and girls’ cross country (3.72).
