Thrilling MSU softball home run derby event returning next week

Coming to South Hill Complex on Oct. 13 will be the 2nd annual Beaver Softball Homerun Derby. The event will take place at 5 p.m. and serves as a fundraiser with entry fees benefitting the travel fund for the MSU softball team.

Those who enter the competition will have 10 swings per round with the goal of maximizing the amount of home runs hit in 10 swings. When facing another community member, the person who hits the most home runs will advance to the next round in a single elimination bracket.

The last community member standing will be crowned the 2022 Minot State Softball Homerun Derby champion and will receive a trophy. The second-place finisher will also receive a trophy.

For those not wanting to compete, but still wanting to attend, there will be hot dogs and other concessions available throughout the derby. The cost to attend will be $5 for students with a valid ID and $15 for everyone else.

MSU softball head coach Bailey Gaspar and assistant coach Chelsea Holliday encourage the community to enter the competition or to stop by and watch.

For more information or to sign up, visit @minotstatesoftball on Instagram and click the link in bio to sign up. Those who want to enter must sign up by Oct. 10.

Starting at $3.75/week.
