Minot Aces 9U’s remarkable play leads to Cal Ripken Regional Tournament

The Minot Aces 9U baseball club recently wrapped up postseason summer play and they made it a memorable one as the team finished the year with a 21-6-1 record.

With the season starting at the end of May, the team finished the month with a 2-2 record to end the month, however, they would go on to power through the rest of their summer on their way to an impressive finish.

Following the .500 start to the season, the Aces would go on to win seven out of nine contests in June. During that hot stretch, they won five games in a row, carrying that streak into July.

In a more action-packed month of July, the Aces would continue their trend of their winning ways. Entering the final month of the season and as they get ready for postseason tournaments, the Aces would go on to win 12 out of their final 15 games.

Most notably, they won nine games in a row dating from July 9 to 29, as the team was clicking at the right time. During their thrilling win streak, the Aces managed to earn the title of 2022 Babe Ruth State Champions, a truly impressive feat for the young athletes, and a result of the hard work and dedication put together by the ballplayers and the coaching staff.

With securing the state title, the Aces were able to move on to play in the Cal Ripken Regional Tournament, which took place in Boonville, Mo. At the regional tournament, the Aces made their presence felt, taking down Southeast Denver in a 12-1 ballgame to open pool play.

After blasting their way to a regional tournament win, the Aces had themselves sitting in a good spot, only needing to win one out of their next two games in order to move on to bracket play in the Cal Ripken tournament.

The Aces would be on the losing end of a close, 8-9 game against the Boonville 9U All Stars, but still, they decided they weren’t ready for their time to end at the tournament. The team would advance to bracket play after topping the Centennial Colorado 9U All Stars in strong fashion with an 11-1 victory.

Showcasing what they’ve been able to do all season, now against formidable talent from around the region, the Aces were able to win consecutive games when they took down the East Central Colorado All Stars in a 10-0 shutout win.

A familiar foe would be on deck for the Aces, as they were set to play the West Fargo 9U Rattlers, a team they were able to beat during their state title run. This time, however, the Rattlers got the best of the Aces in an 11-3 ballgame.

With the loss, the Aces time at the Cal Ripken Regional Tournament came to an end. However, it was a season to remember for the young players and coaches of the Minot Aces, who should feel very proud of what they were able to accomplish in the summer of 2022.
