Minot High takes second at Watford City Invite

The Minot Magicians golf team was back in action on Monday as they went to Fox Hills Golf Course for the Watford City Invitational. The field consisted of nine teams, with the Magicians taking second place on the day.

Kasen Rostad led the way for the Magicians with an individual score of 76, shooting a 38 on both the front nine and the back nine.

Trailing just behind Rostad was Henry Langhans with a 77, shooting a 37 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine.

Rostad’s individual score ranked in a tie for third among all individual golfers, while Langhan’s score put him fourth among all individuals.

For the rest of the Magicians, Brock Jones shot a 78 (37 on the front nine, 41 on the back nine), Tyler Bast shot an 82 (39 on the front nine, 43 on the back nine), Benjamin Svangstu shot an 83 (42 on the front nine, 41 on the back nine), and Peyton Bartsch shot an 88 (43 on the front nine, 45 on the back nine).

The Magicians got off to a great start during the invitational, but some struggles on the back nine hampered them from finishing in first. Still, a second-place finish is a strong day on the links. They finished with an overall team score of 313.

Century finished in first, Bismarck finished in third, St Mary’s finished in fourth, and Williston ended in fifth to round out the top five teams at the event.

Up next for the Magicians will be the Minot Invite taking place today at Vardon Golf Club. This will be the last regular season invite for the Magicians as they get ready for West Region tournament coming up on June 1.
