NDSU’s Patterson, Williams, Roques, Sigle make MVFC All-Newcomer Team

North Dakota State had four players named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team on Tuesday as selected by a vote of the league’s head coaches, media and sports information directors.

Quarterback Quincy Patterson, running back TaMerik Williams, defensive end Loshiaka Roques and cornerback Marques Sigle were named to the team, which is comprised of 12 offensive and 12 defensive players.

Patterson, a Virginia Tech transfer from Chicago, led NDSU to a 7-0 record starting the first seven games of the year, and he led the Bison in rushing five of those seven games. Patterson rushed for 436 yards on a team-high 85 carries in the regular season and is second on the team with six rushing touchdowns.

Williams, an SMU transfer from Angleton, Texas, is North Dakota State’s leading rusher with 49.3 yards per game. He is averaging 6.7 yards on 74 carries with 493 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns.

Roques, a redshirt freshman from Maple Grove, Minn., appeared in 10 of 11 games and made nine total tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and two pass breakups.

Sigle, a redshirt freshman from Omaha, Neb., made three tackles on kickoff coverage and had 13 total tackles in the regular season including 10 solo stops. He returned his first career interception 36 yards against Indiana State and also has two pass breakups and one forced fumble.

No. 2 seed North Dakota State (10-1) is scheduled to host Southern Illinois (8-4) in the second round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
