NDSU’s Entz earns third straight AFCA FCS Region 4 Coach of the Year Award

North Dakota State’s Matt Entz has earned his third straight AFCA FCS Region 4 Coach of the Year award, the American Football Coaches Association announced Monday.

Entz has guided North Dakota State to an 11-1 record, the Missouri Valley Football Conference title, and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the NCAA FCS playoffs, where the second-seeded Bison will face No. 7 seed East Tennessee State at 11 a.m. this Saturday, Dec. 11.

Entz is 34-4 in his three years as a head coach and guided the Bison to the 2019 NCAA FCS national title after spending five years as NDSU’s defensive coordinator. He was named 2019 AFCA FCS National Coach of the Year after becoming the first Division I head coach to go 16-0 in his first full year at the helm.

Already honored as the MVFC Coach of the Year, Entz is also one of 17 finalists for the Stats Perform FCS Eddie Robinson Award, which is presented annually to the FCS coach of the year and selected by a national panel of voters.
