Majettes swimming’s Wolsky commits to Mary

One of the Minot High Majettes girls’ swim & dive team’s mainstays throughout the past half-decade has set in stone her plans for the next step in her swimming career.
Jordn Wolsky, a senior at Our Redeemer’s Christian School who has been in and out of the pool since she was six years old, has grown into a fixture in the Majettes’ swimming lineup since she joined the team for eighth-grade season. At the Magic City Campus Wednesday evening, she signed her National Letter of Intent to continue swimming collegiately with the University of Mary Marauders.
“Honestly the school itself, the coaches and just the team environment just really drew me in,” she said. “I love talking with Coach Neiheisel over there, and I just then fully committed to swim there.”
Wolsky put a bow on an impressive high school career with a pair of individual top five finishes at the state meet in Bismarck Nov. 13, taking third in the 100-yard butterfly with a final time of 58.60 seconds and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:00.19.
She also aided her team in taking third in the 400-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay. Her contributions helped Minot High to a third-place finish overall with a final score of an even 311, sealing a top three finish at state for the Majettes in each of Wolsky’s five years with the group.
She was honored as one of the Majettes’ four Class A All-State First Team selections as well, joining fellow senior Bella Price, freshman Haley Conklin and sophomore Ella Kesler. Minot High head coach Emily Jensen was also awarded NDHSCA Coach of the Year honors.
Wolsky cited similarities in ability and experience with the athletes already involved in the program at Mary as a factor that aided in making her decision among a handful of schools including the University of Jamestown, an aspect Jensen agreed would serve her well as a part of the team.
“She’ll know a lot of athletes who are currently there, and she’ll also know a lot of athletes coming in this year,” Jensen said. “I think that’s going to be really great for her. (Coach Neiheisel) knows how she trains, knows she’s a hard worker, knows she’s all in, and I think that’s part of what Jordn also loves about the team.”
Away from the pool, Wolsky plans to study biology and hopes to find her way onto the pre-med track. Science has fascinated her for as long as she can remember, and her desire to help people made her field of study an easy choice.
Wolsky’s teammates and the atmosphere within the program have meant the most to her throughout her five years with the Majettes, and she will not soon forget those who helped her reach this point with the achievements she has accrued.
“I love all the teammates and coaches, and the fans were so supportive throughout every single year I was on that team,” she said. “When I look back, I’ll definitely remember my teammates more than any personal success that I had. They were basically my family, and I still consider them to be family as I go on to college.”
