ORCS takes third at Dickinson Tourney

This past Friday and Saturday, Our Redeemer’s Christian School competed in the Dickinson Class A/B Volleyball Tournament where they earned a third-place finish, losing just one match during the two-day event.

During the pool play portion of the tournament, the Knights won all three games in straight sets. They scored a 25-7, 25-9, 15-9 win over Richardton in the first game. In the second, ORCS notched a 25-15, 25-18, 15-9 triumph over New England. In the final match of pool play, Our Redeemer’s won 25-22, 25-18, 15-9 over Glasgow.

As the second seed in the Gold Bracket, Our Redeemer’s won three of their next four games. They took the first match over Glasgow 25-7, 25-14 before dropping the second game to Northern Cass 19-25, 22-25. The Knights rebounded nicely with a 25-23, 25-17 win over Baker in the third contest, and a 25-17, 25-16 victory over Dickinson Trinity in the final match of the competition.

Collectively, senior outside hitter Cheyenne Lang led the Knights in kills with 43 throughout tournament play. Meanwhile, Maya Vibeto and Eden Olson each tallied 38 kills apiece. Olson also paced the club in assists with 132 while Vibeto led the way with a team-highs in digs (47) and aces (11). Calli Weekley was the team-leader in blocks with 10, and Sydney Popinga enjoyed a good all-around tournament with 27 kills, 10 aces, 35 digs and five blocks.

Next up on the schedule, Our Redeemer’s plans to host Des Lacs-Burlington in its next game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
