Minot State hires Polzin as head golf coach

Minot State University director of athletics Andy Carter has announced the hiring of Brandon Polzin as head men’s and women’s golf coach.

He will begin his duties immediately, taking over for Kyle Knutson.

“Polzin brings a lot of experience and energy to our program.” Carter said. “We know his experience and passion for the game will create the right environment for our student-athletes to thrive and see success.”

Brandon Polzin, a PGA Golf Pro, will also serve as the Director of Lessons and Training for the local X-Golf franchise.

Polzin, a 2007 graduate of Ferris State University, brings 10 years of experience as a golf professional to Minot. He has worked both for golf clubs and for X-Golf locations and will also serve as the PGA Golf Pro at X-Golf Minot. The Minnesota native also has a degree from Rasmussen College in Information Technology Management.

“I’m excited to lead the Minot State program,” Polzin said. “Minot has had a strong program and is in a community with a lot of passion for the sport.”

X-Golf, a state-of-the-art golf simulator company plans to open its first North Dakota location in Minot this fall. X-Golf will be located in the lower level of the Blu on Broadway, a new five-story, multi-use building in Minot.

Minot State Golf’s spring 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19, but both men’s and women’s teams finished seventh at the NSIC Championships in April 2021.
