Softball: MSU’s Jazmin Karunungan and Jamie Odlum named 2nd-Team All-NSIC

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced the 2021 NSIC Softball All-Conference Teams. Jazmin Karunungan and Jamie Odlum of Minot State University have earned second-team honors.

Karunungan and Odlum were the top two of three statistical leaders for the Minot State softball team that clinched the eighth seed in the NSIC Tournament. Karunungan was third on the team with a .398 batting average, led the team in stolen bases with 22, and was third on the team in on-base percentage (.409). Meanwhile, Odlum led the team with a .415 batting average, was second on the team in slugging percentage (.561), and was third on the team in RBIs with 23.

Odlum was second on the team in OPS (1.064) and total bases (69). The sophomore from Morden, Manitoba committed just four errors in 184 total chances for a .986 fielding percentage. Odlum’s .415 batting average is seventh in Minot State’s DII single-season records.

As for Karunungan, she was the table-setter at the top of the batting order and helped MSU lead the nation in total stolen bases with 127. The sophomore from Simi Valley, California has recorded 26-career stolen bases since playing her first season with the Beavers in 2020. Her 22 stolen bases this year is fifth most in single season program history at the D-II level.

Collectively, the Beavers won five of their last six games regular season games and will face the University of Sioux Falls at 10 a.m. on Thursday inside the RYFSA Complex in Rochester, Minnesota.
