Minot High wins Watford City Invite

Argent breaks Fox Hills course record

Friday marked the third consecutive meet in which the Minot boys golf team put together a first-place finish.

The Magi paced the eight-team field at the Watford City Invite with a team score of 302. By comparison, they ended the competition with a lead of over 20 strokes as runner-up Bismarck Century shot 323 on the day.

Individually, Minot’s Gavin Argent enjoyed a remarkable day as he shot a 64 to lead all golfers. In the process, Argent set a new course record at the Fox Hills Golf and Country Club. Meanwhile, Brock Jones recorded a score of 76 to finish second on the team. Rounding out the other Minot scores, Kasen Rostad shot 79, Peyton Bartsch recorded a score of 83, Jake Theis was one stroke behind that pace at 84, and Henry Langhans finished the day at 87.

Next up for Minot, they plan to compete on Monday, May 24 at The Links of North Dakota in their final meet before regionals. Start time for that meet is slated for 10 a.m.
