Tauros goalie Rancier commits to MSU Mankato

2 min read

Minot Minotauros goaltender Keenan Rancier has officially committed to play collegiately at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

As he becomes the Tauros’ 70th NCAA Division I commit, Rancier’s .920 save percentage ranks fourth all-time for the Minotauros, which has lead to a 3.07 GAA and 9-9-2 record so far this season. In October, Rancier was recognized as the NAHL Central Division Star of the Week, as well as the NAHL Goaltender of the Month.

Through 20 appearances this season, Rancier has faced at least 40 shots in nine of those games, and has accumulated a .925 save percentage in those matchups which includes a 46-save shutout of Bismarck.

For Rancier, his decision to commit to Mankato was due to his deep respect for its hockey culture. The netminder, who plans to study business in college, is also excited about the location of the school, as well as its rabid fan base. "Mankato is one of the best programs in the country with some of the nicest facilities as well. They run a very professional program and treat their players like professionals," Rancier stated.

Meanwhile, Minot head coach Shane Wagner credits Rancier’s work ethic and strong character as having paved the way for the Minotauro standout to compete at the Division I level. "Mankato is getting a true professional and overall great kid," Wagner said of Rancier.
